We happened across this little family-owned cafe while looking for some shaved ice in the summertime Nara heat. I couldn’t be more happy with our experience- the matcha shaved ice, raindrop jelly, and adzuki beans were exactly what we needed. I’m not even a red bean lover, but I could be converted. The complimentary cold roasted green tea was incredible, I even asked if I could buy the tea leaves because it was some of the best I’d had so far in Japan. The family running the place was so sweet and ensured everything was to our liking, and rushed out the door to wish us goodbye!! Couldn’t recommend this enough.

The place, the dessert I ate, and the genuine attention of the lady who made me practice Japanese after a long day - was amazing! Their matcha is intense and nice, the bean paste has the right sweetness and mochi is great - the combination makes a very hearty but elegant dessert, I just felt the zen here. Thanks a lot and love from Turkey.

If you want to experience authentic Nara cuisine then look no further. The owners are very lovely people and would definitely come back. It's not as far off the usual tourist hotspot and road there is experience in itself. 'We were looking for silver but found gold' is how I would describe my experience in Shofukutei.

Very cute small shop with amazing desserts! Their roasted green tea was super good and their dessert with red bean paste was the best red bean I have ever had. Owners were lovely and so accommodating. A must try :)

One of our favorite food experiences we had in Japan. The owners were so friendly. We enjoyed a short matcha experience. The seasonal dessert we had was beautifully presented and had a mix of so many delicious flavors and textures. The ginger tea was also choked full of fresh ginger and was so refreshing. The free origami was just the cherry on top.

One of the most authentic experiences my family and I had in Japan. We loved the tea and Japanese sweets, which I believe are all made in-house from raw ingredients. The hosts were extremely courteous and welcoming (they even set us up with parting gifts as we were leaving!)
